These dogs originated in Germany in the 19th century. Their original purpose was to work with the cattle, so the dogs should be very strong, courageous and obedient. On the other hand, these dogs were very friendly and playful at home and enjoyed entertaining the whole family. The first standard for these canines appeared in 1895, but the dogs we know today have changed much in appearance. These dogs were introduced to the USA in the beginning of the 20th century and soon were accepted by the AKC. These funny creatures are very popular as family pets all over the world today.
